Eating disorders are a group of serious conditions characterized by abnormal eating habits that negatively impact a person’s physical and mental health. Eating disorders often involve a disturbance in body image and a fear of gaining weight. They can involve severe restriction of food intake, excessive exercise, or other forms of bingeing, such as vomiting or laxative use. These disorders can include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder.

Programs help individuals: develop and restore healthy eating habits and attitudes; learn about balanced nutrition, physical activity, and other aspects of eating disorders; improve family, marital and personal relationships; and learn healthy ways to cope with emotional difficulties.
